BPMN
BPMN support converts selected BPMN 2.0 elements into native Workflow Engine schemes and supplies BPMN activity shapes in the Designer. The BPMN Plugin section contains the setup, import walkthrough, conversion reference, and customization examples for this integration. Workflow Runtime executes the native scheme produced by conversion.
Choose a BPMN guide
BPMN Plugin supports importing process structure and authoring native schemes with selected BPMN shapes. Choose the page that matches the work you need to complete.
Register BPMN Plugin
Install the package, check licensing, and enable BPMN activities in the Designer.
Import BPMN Diagrams
Choose scheme codes, review the import log, and verify saved workflows.
Supported Elements
Check tasks, gateways, events, subprocesses, pools, and conversion limitations.
Customize BPMN Import
Replace converter visitors and configure date handling and activity update defaults.
Review execution boundaries
BPMN Plugin imports BPMN 2.0 XML into independent native definitions. The current plugin does not export native schemes as BPMN or synchronize later source changes. Unsupported constructs can retain their diagram position while losing specialized execution behavior; User Task, for example, becomes an ordinary activity with a warning and no automatic user command or form binding.
Complete application actions, conditions, message-to-command handling, and command access rules before executing the imported workflow. Inspect conversion issues and the builder's save results rather than treating successful XML conversion as full BPMN compatibility.

Frequently asked questions
How do I import BPMN into Workflow Engine?
Register BpmnPlugin with the runtime, then select Upload BPMN in the Designer. Review the import log and prepare the native schemes for execution using the plugin's import guide.
Can Workflow Engine export native schemes back to BPMN?
The current BpmnPlugin has no BPMN export API. Use native scheme export for backups and reconcile BPMN source changes explicitly.
Can I customize a BPMN element's conversion?
Yes. BpmnConverterBuilder.Create() accepts replacement node, flow, and process visitors. Pass the resulting converter to BpmnPlugin before registration.
